What is a lawyer?

A lawyer, according to Black's Law Dictionary, is "a person learned in the law; as an attorney, counsel or solicitor; a person licensed to practice law." Law is the system of rules of conduct established by the sovereign government of a society to correct wrongs, maintain stability, and deliver justice. Working as a lawyer involves the practical application of abstract legal theories and knowledge to solve specific individualized problems, or to advance the interests of those who retain (i.e., hire) lawyers to perform legal services.

Debt Collection

Robert Wood and Associates continues to assist clients having trouble collecting money from those in their debt. From small loans between friends and family to large commercial unpaid invoices, our firm can help you regain what is owed to you or your business.

We work closely with each client to evaluate how much is owed. We contact the debtor directly with the aim of recovering your money without going through Court. If the funds are still not returned, we then travel down alternative legal avenues, seeking to obtain an Order from the Court directing the other party to pay off the debt. In more demanding circumstances, bankruptcy remains as a final option, allowing the State Trustees to take over the other party’s assets, sell off what is necessary and passing on the proceeds to you.
