In May 1980 Robert commenced his own legal practice upon being admitted to practice as a Barrister and Solicitor and established the firm of Robert Wood and Associates which has been giving advice to the local community and built up a solid clientele basis since that point in time. Robert is believed to be the second candidate to commence his own practice upon admission to practice in the Supreme Court of Victoria. Robert was also admitted to practice in the High Court of Australia and thus is able to practice in Family Law in the Federal Magistrates Court and all other jurisdictions.
Originally Robert Wood was a secondary school teacher (as it was then was known) and taught for approximately 10 years whilst completing on a part-time basis a Law Degree. Originally Robert was employed as a secondary school teacher in Commercial and Legal Studies whilst completing his law degree and has developed a legal practice with a view of taking care of the individual requirements of a client in a professional manner so as to optimise the necessary outcomes demanded by his clients.
Robert believes it is extremely important to explain to his clients, as do other members of his staff, that despite the emotion of any particular given circumstance, these emotional decisions must be kept in check when looking at the commercial basis upon which Litigation of any type is commenced. Robert, together with his staff, will assess the situation in a caring and sympathetic way so as to ensure that the client feels as comfortable as possible in making the decisions which have to be made. After in excess of thirty (30) years practice in the Boronia area he is not only seeing clients for the first time but is now seeing those clients children and even their grandchildren come back to the practice for help and advice. This is seen as a recommendation not only as to the character of the firm but of the skills which he used to help people through difficult situations.
